Editorial Policy
At Suggest Me Book, our mission is to guide readers toward books they’ll love—thoughtfully, honestly, and with care. We live and breathe reading. We test “Books Like” matches, compare editions, verify details, and write with the conviction of people who actually turn the pages. Trust is everything. This document explains the principles and processes that shape every review, reading guide, and recommendation published on our platform.
1. Independence and Integrity
Editorial Firewall
Our editorial team works independently from revenue operations, partnerships, and affiliates. No advertiser, sponsor, author, agent, or publisher sees, approves, or edits our content prior to publication. Full stop. Our “best of,” “books like,” and “what to read next” lists are curated by editors based on merit, not money. When content is sponsored, it is clearly labeled as “Sponsored” and held to the same accuracy standards as everything else on Suggest Me Book.
Gift & Sample Policy
We do not accept cash gifts. We may receive advance reader copies, galleys, or digital review copies for evaluation. Receipt of a book never guarantees coverage, placement, or a positive take. If event access, travel, or tickets are provided to support reporting, we disclose that in the article. Review copies are kept only for reference, fact-checking, or comparison; they are not resold.
Affiliate Transparency
Some articles include affiliate links to book retailers or book platforms. If you buy through these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Our recommendations are based on editorial judgment, reading experience, and testing—not on commission rates. A disclosure appears site-wide and, where applicable, within individual articles. 2. Fact-Checking and Accuracy
Accuracy is non-negotiable. Here’s how we keep it tight and trustworthy:
- Primary Sourcing: We prioritize official sources—publisher catalogs, author statements, copyright pages, and ISBN records—over aggregated or secondhand reports.
- Verification: Publication dates, ISBNs, page counts, editions, translations, series order, age ranges, and content tags are cross-checked against official documentation and the physical or digital book when available.
- Hands-On Reading: Our recommendations are grounded in real reading. For “Books Like” lists and read-alike matches, an editor has either read the core title and key comps or conducted structured sampling with notes on voice, pacing, themes, and triggers.
- Context & Representation: When discussing sensitive topics (violence, trauma, identity, etc.), we approach with care, consult multiple perspectives, and avoid sensationalism.
- Updates: We revisit guides as new editions or translations release, when titles go out of print, or when availability changes (hardcover, paperback, audiobook, e-book).
- Correction Policy: We do not stealth edit. If a substantive error is found, we correct the text and append a “Correction Log” at the bottom of the article with the date and details. Spot something? Tell us at https://suggestmebook.com/contact-us/.
3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
Literary judgment is human work. Nuance matters. So does taste.
- Drafting & Writing: All final reviews, features, and recommendations are written by human editors. We do not publish articles that are fully generated by AI.
- Assistance: We may use AI tools in limited ways—for outlining options, grammar checks, or non-editorial tasks like data formatting. Any insights that shape recommendations are validated by a human editor through reading, sampling, or corroborated sourcing.
- Disclosure: If any visual asset, data visualization, or dataset component is AI-generated or AI-assisted, we will label it clearly in the caption or methodology notes.
4. Conflict of Interest
Every contributor signs a conflict-of-interest statement. Editors and writers must disclose any financial interest, employment, freelance relationship, close personal connection, or professional entanglement with authors, agents, publishers, or publicists related to a book under consideration. If a conflict exists, they recuse themselves from the assignment. We do not trade positive coverage for access. We do not accept paid endorsements or blurbs for titles we cover. When an unavoidable connection exists that does not compromise the work, it will be clearly disclosed to readers.
