Corporate Governance

Suggest Me Book is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of editorial integrity, business ethics, regulatory compliance, and corporate responsibility. We are a book discovery platform—built by readers, librarians, editors, data scientists, and bookstore veterans—who know that trustworthy guidance can change a reading life. Our governance framework protects that trust and promotes long-term value for our stakeholders: readers, authors, publishers, employees, partners, and the wider community. Clear principles. Consistent execution. Continuous improvement.

Code of Business Conduct

Our Code of Conduct applies to all employees, contractors, editors, community moderators, advisors, and board members. It informs how we recommend books, handle data, collaborate with publishers, and serve our community every day.

Editorial independence is non-negotiable. We do not sell favorable coverage or allow pay-to-play rankings. Recommendations are driven by evidence—reader signals, expert judgment, and transparent criteria—and clearly separated from any advertising or sponsorship.

Anti-Bribery & Corruption

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward bribery and improper influence. No employee or representative may offer, give, solicit, or receive anything of value to skew an editorial judgment, business decision, or vendor selection. Gifts of more than a nominal value must be declined or disclosed and recorded. Sponsored content, if accepted, is labeled—always.

Fair Competition

We compete vigorously but fairly. We do not enter anti-competitive agreements, such as price-fixing or market allocation. We respect intellectual property and platform terms: data is sourced lawfully; scraping where prohibited is off-limits. We will never manipulate ratings, reviews, or discovery signals to mislead readers. Accuracy first. Transparency always.

Confidentiality

We rigorously protect the confidential information of our users, clients, and partners. Reading preferences, account details, and communications are handled on a need-to-know basis with encryption in transit and at rest. Pre-release materials and advance reader copies are safeguarded under NDA and used solely for agreed editorial purposes. Training, access controls, and audits reinforce these commitments.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Data Governance: We treat privacy as both a legal mandate and a trust imperative. Our Privacy Lead oversees quarterly audits, privacy-by-design reviews, and data retention schedules to comply with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and applicable local regulations. We practice data minimization, honor subject access requests, and document processing activities.
  • Whistleblower Protection: We maintain an anonymous reporting channel for employees, contributors, and third parties to raise concerns without fear of retaliation. Contact [email protected] or use our secure form at https://suggestmebook.com/contact-us/. Reports are investigated promptly and confidentially.
  • Security & Incident Response: We employ layered security controls—MFA, least-privilege access, encryption, and vendor risk assessments. We test our defenses periodically and maintain documented incident response playbooks. Where required, we notify regulators and affected users within statutory timeframes.
  • AI Use & Recommendation Integrity: Our recommendations combine human expertise with algorithmic insights. We evaluate models for bias, measure quality against editorial benchmarks, and disclose automated elements where material. We do not train systems on private user content without lawful basis and consent.
  • Editorial Accuracy & Corrections: Sources are vetted, claims are verified, and updates are versioned. When we err, we correct visibly and quickly. Readers can suggest fixes or challenge coverage via our contact page.
  • Accessibility & Inclusion: We aim to meet or exceed WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines. Clear language. Alt text. Keyboard navigation. Inclusive recommendations that reflect a wide range of voices and experiences.
  • Conflicts of Interest & Disclosures: Team members must disclose financial interests, gifts, or relationships that could influence content or vendor decisions. Editorial and commercial functions are separated. If we earn a commission from qualified purchases via affiliate links, we disclose it plainly.
  • Record Retention & Legal Holds: We maintain documented retention schedules for operational, editorial, and financial records and implement legal holds when litigation or investigations require preservation.

Supply Chain Ethics

We require our major vendors and suppliers—including cloud providers, data licensors, affiliate partners, and service firms—to adhere to our Supplier Code of Conduct. We choose partners who share our values and can demonstrate strong controls. No exceptions.
